We don't have every word. Sometimes it's a spelling variation; sometimes there's a gap in our collection. Accented letters can trip things up, too.

Why do some words have no dictionary definition?

We've got 182,698 dictionary definitions, but not one for every word. You might know a word our dictionary doesn't!

Why do the dictionary definitions seem a bit "old-fashioned"?

Our definitions come from the 1913 edition of Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, so some sound a little out of place today. If a familiar word has an unfamiliar meaning, that might explain it.
